Legendary Kspace art teacher, Adam Bowden, believes that art is "one of the most important things that children should do." He is a well-loved part of the international school and maintains a career as a professional designer as well.

Adam teaches this very special class that joins the classical skills of the creative arts and a little bit of art- and world- history with a warm, encouraging and open-minded imaginative approach.

The youngest students have a messy, sensory journey using their full bodies to create and explore texture, colour, cause and effect and more. Children ages three and up will put what they learn of artists and artistic techniques to the test, working on visualization, fine motor and gross motor skills through detailed work and large-scale paintings. Even the oldest students have a wealth of opportunities to grow. Encouraging visualization and planning, this class supports the students in the development of executive function, hand-eye coordination, and in many life skills. Students learn how to take constructive criticism in the studio and develop self-efficacy through this process and their vision.

Through discussion and examination, children learn to think critically and sharpen their observational skills. The projects move through multi-week themes including nature, abstract art, landscape, and colour theory. Activities go from the basics of mixing colours to describing and creating new shades, tints and gradients. Painting includes mark-making, layering, printing, advanced brush strokes, and even using palette knives and artists tools in the oldest groups.
