Physics
Ages 4 to 6 years
Tuesdays at 4:00–5:00pm
Course Description
This engaging hands-on programme introduces children to the wonders of science and the world around them. From matter and energy to space, time, and the universe, children will begin to understand how everything works through fun, interactive exploration.
Across the course, students will investigate key scientific ideas including gravity, light, sound, forces, motion, and magnets, building early foundations in scientific thinking.
Why Physics for Early Learners?
Young children are natural scientists. They ask questions, test ideas, and learn best through play and discovery. This course encourages curiosity and hands-on exploration of the invisible forces that shape our world.
Through experiments, games, roleplay, building activities, and sensory exploration, children develop important early skills in:
- Observation and prediction
- Problem-solving
- Communication and teamwork
- Creativity and critical thinking
Physics also connects naturally with engineering, storytelling, and imaginative play, making learning meaningful and fun.
Weekly Topics
Week 1: Light and Shadow
Explore how light travels and how shadows are formed using everyday objects, flashlights, and movement. Children investigate transparent, translucent, and opaque materials.
Week 2: Sound and Vibrations
Discover that sound is made by vibrations using instruments, string telephones, and hands-on experiments with different materials.
Week 3: Pushes and Pulls (Forces)
Learn how forces move objects using toy cars, ramps, balls, and fun movement games. Explore gravity and how different objects fall.
Week 4: Floating and Sinking
Experiment with water to predict what floats and sinks, exploring shape, weight, and materials through playful testing.
Week 5: Magnets and Magnetic Forces
Investigate magnetic attraction through treasure hunts, fishing games, and interactive challenges.
Week 6: Weather and Wind
Explore wind and air movement using kites, bubbles, paper planes, and pinwheels.
