School Interview Practice
This popular class prepares children for enrollment interviews and helps those who need to build confidence in their speaking skills. We aim to foster an outgoing and assertive attitude while modelling and practising natural pronunciation and speech. This class is open to native English speaking students, Japanese speakers, non-native English speakers and multilingual children.
Exercises are designed to help children feel confident in new or unfamiliar settings, easing them to a place where they feel confident to show their true skills and personality. Through role-play, question and answer sessions and other games, we encourage the children to relax and talk openly in a group. Dramatic play, self-exploration and discovery help to draw out answers and participation from the group. The children practice eye contact, positive body language, poise, clear speech and composure. Vocal exercises draw children’s attention to their voices, training them to project. We also work on manners, positive group interaction and independent work.
After a while, even the shyest participants learn to speak out loud! Within a month or so, the children answer questions freely, react calmly under pressure, listen to and understand directions, and generally interact with adults and their surroundings far better.
